The thousand-year-old history
Notre-Dame du Puy Cathedral
A major building in religious history, the cathedral hosts a spectacle that shapes its architecture. The ornamentation of this heritage monument is modeled in sculptural, organic and futuristic forms, carrying a nod to Puy-en-Velay and its traditions including lace or the path of Saint-Jacques-de- Compostela.
The Saint-Michel d’Aiguilhe rock
4th favorite monument of the French 2014… In the middle of the waves, the volcano emerges from the depths of the earth. A dragon comes to challenge the Archangel Saint-Michel who will defeat him. The winged knight will give way to a church under construction which will gradually be adorned with the most beautiful reliefs and surrounded by astonishing nature throughout the 4 seasons.
The fantastic visit
The Crozatier museum
Every summer night, Charles Crozatier steps out of his classic painting to offer a fantastic and supernatural tour of the Museum that bears his name. The Mastodon and the wild animals shake, the fossils come back to life, the ancient mechanisms mysteriously start up again and the Egyptian mummies break into extravagant dances.
Colors France!
The Town Hall of Puy-en-Velay
Blue, white, red… The colors of the Republic take possession of the Puy-en-Velay Town Hall building. Historical, heritage, cultural, artistic and festive symbols, carried by this harmony of identity, tell, testify, are exhibited and play in this show with catchy tones!
Varied artistic programming
The Puy-en-Velay Theater
Circus, theater, paintings, dance, digital and technological arts are on the program in the wildest dreams of lights... Listed in the inventory of Historic Monuments, the Theater is the work of the architect Ponot Antoine Martin. Inaugurated on July 8, 1893 by Raymond Poincaré, the building and its large room are representative of Italian-style theaters.
Long live the market and its local products
Place du Plot
Beautiful nature surrounds Le Puy-en-Velay, cereal crops, flowering meadows, undergrowth with mushrooms and red fruits, livestock and good farm products, farmers in the fields, multi-talented gastronomy… and the queen Lentille verte du Puy AOP over the generations! The Puy-en-Velay market, the most beautiful market in Auvergne and among the 10 most beautiful markets in France for TF1.
Land of festivals
The Saint-Alexis chapel
The music festivals in Haute-Loire shine with their qualities and varieties. They offer to listen, in concerts, classical, folk, country, Celtic, jazz brass, pop rock... Illustrating these various musical themes, the Saint-Alexis chapel offers, every summer evening, a rhythmic show of lights, images and sounds.
Along the Loire River
The Old Bridge of Brives-Charensac
Embark on a stroll in lights in the waves of the wild Loire. From its source at Mont Gerbier de Jonc, to the waves of the ocean. The natural Loire and its fish pass under the Pont-Vieux and the Pont Galard of Brives-Charensac, then cross the Monts d'Auvergne, reflecting the castles of the kings of France, to throw themselves into the arms of the Atlantic.
The Brives-Charensac Media Library
The Loire, in spectacle on and under the Pont Vieux, continues its journey to the media library. The facades of this cultural building and their reflections in the water extend the narrative intrigue of this fiery Loire richly inhabited by flora and fauna. The sequence which illustrates historical passages of Brives-Charensac is maintained in this current of the river.
