Le Puy-en-VelayAfter the exhibition Self-portraits. From Cezanne to Van Gogh in partnership with the Musée d'Orsay which was a great success in 2023 with more than 57 visitors, the Musée Crozatier du Puy-en-Velay once again welcomes a famous cultural institution, the Center Pompidou!
A national exhibition
The exhibition Cross-country explores the world of rurality through the eyes of painters and photographers of the 20e century in France and Europe. This rare thematic exhibition includes four sections devoted in turn to the representation of the actors of the peasant world, to the often stylized representation of agricultural work, as well as to the way of describing a strongly structured rural space which can encourage certain modern and contemporaries to reveal its abstract potentialities.
The result of an exceptional collaboration between the National Museum of Modern Art and the Crozatier Museum, this unique exhibition brings together more than 70 works (paintings, drawings, photographs, etc.) dated from 1904 to 2015. From Georges Braque to Joan Mitchell, to name a few. by Marc Chagall, Raoul Dufy, Vassily Kandinsky or Kasimir Malevitch, 33 major artists reflect a world in constant evolution, marked in particular by the transition from manual labor to industrialization. The selection of works exhibited thus allows us to revisit the different artistic movements of this effervescent period in a new light.
The visit to this exhibition is suitable for families thanks to fun mediation tools.
