The Velay Volcanoes Tour by bike will offer you an incredible tour of Velay, its natural and heritage riches. A journey that will take you from the Mézenc plateaus to the Sucs du Meygal via the Loire Valley.
Day 1: Arrival at Le Puy-en-Velay.
Day 2: Le Puy en Velay – Goudet: 45km – D+700m
You will join the GR 40 by small roads and paths between mountains and forests offering magnificent views of the Loire and Gazeille valleys.
Day 3: Goudet – Les Estables: 34km – D+1080m
You will go back up towards the high plateaus of Mézenc between volcanic flows, the Breysse mountains. You will then reach the village-resort of Estables and undoubtedly the most emblematic of the volcanoes of Haute-Loire: Mont Mezenc.
Day 4: Les Estables – Queyrières: 46km – D+815m
How good it will be to cycle to the heart with the panoramas offered by the high plateaus of Mézenc. You will pass in front of the Croix de Pécata (start of the ascent of Mézenc), before taking the path around Mont Alambre. You will then cycle towards Moudeyres (Chaumières) and Saint-Front where you can discover its volcanic lake. Your route will then take you to the heart of Meygal towards Queyrières. A magnificent varied stage between high plateaus and peaks of Meygal… Intoxicating!
Day 5: Queyrières – Saint-Paulien: 41km – D+840m
A day where you will cross the volcanic Meygal massif before returning to the Loire gorges at Vorey (magnificent descent) before climbing towards the ancient capital of Velay – Saint-Paulien. A day in the great outdoors filled with discoveries.
Day 6: Saint-Paulien – Montbonnet: 55km – D+1190m
Your journey around the volcanoes will take you to discover Mont-Bar, a Strombolian volcano with a peat bog at its summit before reaching Allègre and Potence, the remains of its 360th century castle. You will now ride through the high coniferous forests of Fix-Saint-Genêt then switch to new volcanic peaks including that of Durande (highest point of the Puy-en-Velay conurbation), an incredible XNUMX° panorama.
Day 7: Montbonnet – Le Puy-en-Velay: 38km – D+350m
Welcome to the volcanic lands of Devès, which include nearly 150 volcanic cones and a pearl: the volcanic lake of Bouchet! To discover before returning to Puy-en-Velay.
Day 8: End of stay after breakfast.
