Cycling in the footsteps of God's walker will take you from Puy-en-Velay to Ardèche. The Saint-Régis path is now a loop that offers some of the most beautiful landscapes in Haute-Loire and Ardèche.
DAY 1
Arrival at Puy-en-Velay
A day of discovery of the city of Puy-en-Velay. Stroll and discover the upper town of Puy-en-Velay. Take the secret streets, discover the Cathedral, the starting point of the Chemin de Saint-Jacques of Compostela.
DAY 2: Le Puy-en-Velay – Moudeyres: 37 km – D+880m
Join the Puy greenway which will take you peacefully to Coubon where you will follow the Saint-Régis path to the
Monastier sur Gazeille. The GR 430 continues its route between small roads and forest tracks to take you to Freycenet la Tour and finally Moudeyres and its thatched cottages.
DAY 3: Moudeyres – Saint-Agrève: 35 km – D+510m
A beautiful day of discovery of the high plateaus of Mézenc, the meadows of the AOP du Fin Gras, the volcanic lake of Saint-Front and heritage of all kinds.
DAY 4: Saint-Agrève – Lalouvesc: 36km – D+760m
After the Devesset lake, you enjoy a beautiful descent in the heart of nature, mixing road and track. The nature is intense, it's a treat even if the climb back up to Lalouvesc is a bit steep!
DAY 5: Lalouvesc – Montfaucon: 48km – D+815m
First, there are small roads before joining a beautiful track that takes you up high to reach the city of mushrooms and gastronomy of Haute-Loire (Saint-Bonnet-le-Froid). Then you join Dunières and its forestry before reaching Montfaucon.
DAY 6: Montfaucon – Queyrières or Saint-Julien-Chapteuil: 40km – D+850m
On the way to Haut-Lignon to reach the small town of Tence, then alternating between paths and small roads you admire the peak of Lizieux before tipping over to Meygal and its phonolite stones.
DAY 7: Queyrières or Saint-Julien-Chapteuil – Le Puy-en-Velay: 35km – D+335m
Enjoy the last few pedal strokes to discover the volcanic peaks on the small road that leads to the cascading mills of Neyzac before reaching Saint-Julien-Chapteuil. The arrival towards the city is felt, it's the opportunity to take the greenway!
