Arrival at Puy-en-Velay
The opportunity to discover the Velay city! Stroll and discover the upper town of Puy-en-Velay. Take the secret streets, discover the Notre-Dame du Puy Cathedral.
DAY 2
Hiking on the GR430 between Le Puy-en-Velay and Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille: 19km – 5h – D+ 690m
A first warm-up stage which takes you to Monastier-sur-Gazeille which gives you some height and offers you lovely views of the Puy conurbation but also the Loire Valley.
DAY 3
Hike on the GR430 between Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille and Moudeyres: 15km – 3h30 – D+ 405m
If Monastier-sur-Gazeille was made famous by the writer Robert-Louis Stevenson, you will continue in the footsteps of Saint-Régis to discover Freycenet-Latour and the Barthes pond before reaching the thatched cottage village of Moudeyres.
DAY 4
Hike on the GR430 between Moudeyres and Fay-sur-Lignon: 17km – 4h15 – D+ 385m
Walk on the volcanic highlands of Mézenc! Meadows and mountains as far as the eye can see, the opportunity to discover the Mézenc fin gras farms and its characteristic dwellings.
DAY 5
Hike on the GR430 between Fay-sur-Lignon and Saint-Agrève: 18km – 4h30 – D+ 245m
Your path takes you to the edge of Haute-Loire before tipping over into Ardèche when you reach Saint-Agrève.
DAY 6
Hike on the GR430 between Saint-Agrève and Lalouvesc: 27,5km – 7h – D+ 885M
You leave Saint-Agrève to go along the Lac de Devesset, a magnificent setting before going back up through the forests and broom. Discover Rochepaule to reach Lalouvesc, a hilltop village offering a magnificent view of the Alps in particular.
DAY 7
Hike on the GR430 between Lalouvesc and Saint-Bonnet-le-Froid: 18km – 5h30 – D+ 665m
The Path takes you back to Haute-Loire to reach the high forests of Saint-Bonnet le froid.
DAY 8
Hike on the GR430 between Saint-Bonnet-le-Froid and Montfaucon: 26km – 6h45 – D+ 730m
You descend from the wooded highlands to reach Dunières, its tower and its 12th century Romanesque church. Dunières is today a stage of La Via Fluvia, further on you reach Montfaucon and its church with XNUMX Flemish paintings.
DAY 9
Hike on the GR430 between Montfaucon and Saint-Jeures: 25km – 5h30 – D+ 595m
Cross the village of Montregard where Saint-Régis saved the village from the plague. Enjoy the incredible panorama to reach the village of Tence. You then cross the Lignon river to reach Joux then Saint-Jeures.
DAY 10
Hiking on the GR430 between Saint-Jeures and Saint-Julien-Chapteuil: 25km – 6h – D+ 650m
A day to reach the Massif du Meygal under the benevolent eye of the Pic du Lizieux, then of the Testavoyre. You soon reach Queyrières and its magnificent phonolitic rock before embarking on a beautiful descent into the heart of the volcanic peaks and the Suc de Chapteuil.
DAY 11
Hiking on the GR430 between Saint-Julien-Chapteuil and Le Puy-en-Velay: 19km – 5h – D+ 220m
The last stage of this route to reach Le Puy-en-Velay, you will jointly take the GR 65 & 430 to cross the Loire at Brives-Charensac to return to the capital of Haute-Loire where you will spend the last night of your journey.
