Morning: Visit of Puy-en-Velay

Welcome at the Tourist Office. Departure with a tour guide for a guided walking tour of the ancient town (protected area) and Notre-Dame du Puy Cathedral, a masterpiece of Romanesque art, listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO under the paths of Saint-Jacques-of Compostela.

Afternoon: History of a river, the wild Loire and discovery of the Mézenc highlands

Departure, with a tour guide, for an excursion of approximately 110 km
during which you will cross Monastier-sur-Gazeille, a medieval city
with a rich heritage: 11th century abbey church, castle and Saint-Jean church.
You will then admire the impressive Recoumène viaduct (70 m high) before reaching Les Estables, located at an altitude of 1346 m, the highest climatic resort in the Massif Central, built on the foothills of Mont Mézenc (1753 m).

A few kilometers away, the original silhouette of the Gerbier de Jonc (1551 m) will appear before you, on the ridge line separating the waters of the Loire and Rhône basins, a vast panorama.
After a tribute to the longest French river, the return will be made by
Mézenc highlands. Discovery of the traditional habitat (dwellings with thatched roofs) of the village of Moudeyres, visit to the Ferme des Frères Perrel, eco-museum, history of peasant life in the past.
