Carole Eymaron opened Pecata in Chadrac in April 2024. It's a committed online store that promotes Velay crafts and the region. It offers a variety of creative offerings, including zero-waste home decor, jewelry, tableware, and gift boxes, as well as bookstore items and illustrations showcasing local writers and artists.

What made you want to open this store?

Carole Eymaron: I worked for 15 years at Celnat, an organic food company in Saint-Germain-Laprade, where I progressed through various positions, including purchasing manager. The company instilled in me a great deal in me through its values, both social and environmental. All of this inspired me to create something that reflected these values I hold dear. I wanted to work with artisans and share these values. And that became a reality in April 2024 with the launch of my website.

Does this site adhere to a very specific ethical charter?

Carole Eymaron: Yes, because the concept of craftsmanship is quite broad. I want the artisans I feature on the site to be trustworthy and share certain values. So I've established an ethical charter for them and for the customers. It's based on the level of craftsmanship and highlights the artisans' genuine expertise and talent. It's also based on the materials used and prioritizes those that are as natural as possible, or at least recycled. The aim is to promote eco-responsibility. I've chosen artisans located in the Velay region and the wider area.

And why the name Pecata?

Carole Eymaron: Because I wanted to give it a name that would make people think, that would be original, and that would pay tribute to our department. It alludes to the Croix de Peccata, which is located at the foot of Mont Mézenc. There's nothing religious about my approach; it's simply a nod I wanted to give to our region, which is very popular with tourists.

What types of items are sold?

Carole Eymaron: There are no food products. You'll find jewelry, handcrafted items, natural cosmetics, stationery, and artistic creations. I also highlight local writers and the work done in social organizations like the Ateliers Aniciens and the Ateliers de la Bruyère.

Who are you targeting?

Carole Eymaron: The local clientele of course, but also tourists, or even pilgrims who set out on the path of Saint-Jacques of Compostela and who cannot necessarily bring back things from our region in their bags. I offer themed boxes. Companies can also order them and offer them to their employees or clients. My items may also be of interest to lodges, guesthouses, hotels, or even tourist offices. Each box is modular. There are some dedicated to office supplies, cosmetic products, or well-being. For example, I have a box that I named Alti-Li, which is made up of items that are somewhat symbolic of the department.

How to order?

Carole Eymaron: You simply need to visit the website. Ordering from the online store is very easy. Everything is user-friendly and well-organized. The different product ranges are represented, as well as gift sets. Delivery is extremely fast.
