Eglise Saint-Roch

XNUMXth century church located in the choir of the village of Sembadel
Previously, the church must have enjoyed the patronage of an older saint, Saint Baudile, who gave his name to the village. Saint-Badel was the seat of a priory of the abbey of La Chaise-Dieu, mentioned in 1233. In the XNUMXth century, the prior had the patronage of the church; Parish life was entrusted to a priest.
The current church is from the 1930th or XNUMXth century. A single roof covers the nave and chapels. The church has a wide nave with three vaulted ribbed bays. The south aisle includes two vaulted chapels, lit by a stained glass window: the stained glass window of the first, the work of C. Borie, represents Saint Michael slaying the dragon, the second has an altar surmounted by the statue of Saint Roch, the whole in wood, two other chapels, also vaulted with warheads, that of the Virgin and that of Saint Joseph. The sculpted altar dates from XNUMX.
