Eglise Saint François-Régis de Champels
The Saint-François-Régis Church of Champels
Champels is a hamlet located in the commune of Monistrol d'Allier. He is out of the way of Saint-Jacques, which explains why few people know him!

In 1821, Champels became the center of a new parish and had a church dedicated to Saint François-Régis. It is built with beautiful granite except for the top part of the bell tower which is made of volcanic stone. The latter, modern, does not look like those in the sector, more like a comb.
Even today, in the church, a mass is celebrated once a year on All Saints' Day.
Inside: I draw your attention to two stained glass windows:
– a stained glass window which relates the opposition to inventories following the 1905 law on the separation of Church and State. It represents March 4, 1906 when the gendarmes found themselves facing armed residents. We see the gendarmes and the state agent facing the angry residents…
– another stained glass window represents Notre-Dame d’Estours, very close by.
