Château et parc du Thiolent

In the XNUMXth century, the seigniorial house was fortified for defensive purposes to deal with the looters who raged in the Velay during the Hundred Years War.
In the 17th and 18th centuries, successive owners attached to this place and the beauty of the landscapes decided to transform the residence. The defensive house is transformed into a habitable and welcoming residence in the spirit of the times. Expansion of the whole, opening of windows, creation of lounges, and spacious rooms for entertaining.

A plot of 5 ha is delimited all around the castle to create a park worthy of the residence.
The Thiolent estate, a "green island amidst the fields," is in harmony with its château and the surrounding countryside; a spirit of rigor, simplicity, beauty, and hard work reigns there, without ostentation. It exemplifies the working family life in the countryside, at the foot of the Devès foothills. Today, Thiolent is a living home, inhabited year-round by a farming family who directly manage their estate.
