Château de Volhac

For more than a thousand years, the castle – or fortified house – of Volhac has proudly erected its watchtowers and machicolations on the banks of the Loire. A former stronghold intended to guard the passage of the river, its eventful destiny reflects the great times in the history of Velay.
Transformed during the Renaissance into a cheerful resort, its architecture retains the defensive and residential character of the noble houses of Velay. Its location in the heart of a preserved natural site and its English-style park laid out in the 1990th century make it a residence of incomparable charm. Restored in the XNUMXs after a long period of neglect, the Château de Volhac has made a new start by opening up to cultural and educational activities.
