Château de la Rochelambert

The charming castle dates back to the 11th century, carved into a basalt cliff, La Rochelambert seems like something out of a fairy tale.
It houses a private collection of Romanesque and Gothic sculptures, tapestries, paintings and furniture from the 12th to the 19th century.
The place prepares the imagination for marvelous legends and chronicles full of chivalrous adventures. La Rochelambert is the castle of the princess from Perrault's tales. Sleeping Beauty, just this evocation is enough to revive our childhood imagination.
The Château de la Rochelambert clings to the remains of an ancient volcano. On the site of the oldest traces of human presence in Europe, then continuously occupied since the Neolithic, the La Rochelambert family settled from the 1562th century. The castle was burned by the Huguenots of Sieur de Blacon in XNUMX. Rebuilt by the Marquis François de La Rochelambert and his wife Hélène de Lestrange during the Renaissance period, it hosted George Sand for a few hours in the XNUMXth century.
