On its eastern border, Margeride is a coastal region dissected by numerous rivers. An atmosphere shared between mountains and valleys which we will soak up while following this fairly uneven circuit, which also reserves some lovely architectural surprises.
Route details
Description
From the place de Vazeilles-près-Saugues, with your back to the fountain, take the road which goes down to the right into the village.
At the exit of Vazeilles, take the first track on the right. Go down then go up to the hamlet of Chabotes (view of the Panis valley and the Devès massif).
At Chabotes, the track becomes a road. Follow it for approximately 500m. We join another road near the village of Verdun; take this on the right (view of the Devès massif and the Ance valley). At the large crossroads that appears, continue on the track opposite. Quickly turn right onto a path which descends gently (view of Croissances, its church, and the Panis valley).
Take the first path on the right which winds down towards the village. At the mill, continue on the road which turns to the left, cross the stream, then join Croissances. At the D 34, turn right.
200m after leaving the village, take the path on the right that runs alongside the road. Cross the Panis again and continue between the pastures on a wide track then a more discreet path. It turns left to approach the D 34.
In sight of the D34, take the path which goes up on the right and winds through woods then pastures. At the first houses, follow the alley until Place de Vazeilles.
