Description
Reach the Cour Lafayette via the covered passage to the left of the Salle de l'Écho. Go up to the right and pass under the monumental gate, cross the road and head towards Malvières. Just after the bridge under the railway, take the path on the left. When it splits, turn left. Cut a road to follow rue de la Croix-de-Pierre. At the bend, turn left onto the path. After 850 m, arrive at a fork.
Go left. At the road, go opposite on the path which enters the woods. Stay 2,5 km on this main path and reach a crossroads.
Turn at an acute angle to the right. Quickly turn left to cross the Senouire on a bridge. Then go up to a fork. Climb to the right and emerge into La Chapelle-Geneste. Go left towards the church, then right. At the exit of the village, take the road on the left. This divides. Continue right until the bend.
Leave the road for the forest path on the right. At the road, go left and cross the hamlet of Moranges. At the last houses, take a path on the left [> viewpoint]. It soon splits. Continue left. Enter the forest, cross a first road, continue under the trees and arrive in the open on another road.
Cross it and soon enter the woods. Reach a third road. Follow it to the right and pass over the railway tracks. Just after, turn left onto a path which goes down to Jameton. Turn right. Come out on the D 19. Use it on the right until the crossroads. Turn left towards Charlette-Basse. After the houses, the road becomes a path. On the way up, discover a wet path on the right.
Turn right on this path leading to Lachaux. Go down to the right twice. Further down, in the valley, arrive at a fork. Persevere to the right. Cross the stream. On the way up, ignore the PR 616 on the right and continue to Lavèze. Go down to the left between the houses, then on a path which joins the Senouire.
Turn right. Arrive on the D 4 at the entrance to Combomas. Cross two bridges, then take the road towards Champces on the left. Pass under the bridge and reach Champces. Cross the hamlet. At the exit, take the wide path on the left. After a steep path, at the junction, go left. At Arfeuilles, go around the chapel on the right.
At the last houses, take the path on the right and reach La Chaise-Dieu. Take the stairs to the right of the abbey to emerge on Place de l'Écho.
