Having just completed his studies, Dorante returns to Paris, determined to enjoy the pleasures of the capital. Accompanied by his valet, he meets two young coquettes at the Tuileries and invents a military career to dazzle them.
What ensues is a diabolical imbroglio involving young women, a father, and a friend. Disregarding honor, oaths of friendship, and love, Dorante becomes entangled in a web of lies that triggers irresistible misunderstandings. Since the young women are no exception in their deception, one wonders who will win this game of deception. This masterpiece in alexandrines brings back to the stage the joyful and brilliant Corneille, author of The Comic Illusion.
