A show in residence at the theater. The mist rolls in. An island divides. A future is born.
A girl, Eilidh, gazes out to sea and dreams of a new life beyond her island. Myth and reality collide when the tide washes a mysterious stranger onto her beach.
The Islanders tells the story of Eilidh, the only child on the island of Kinnan, faced with the exodus of its inhabitants and the disappearance of her world. When the village is forced to abandon the island, she discovers a dying whale and meets Arran, a mysterious young girl from an unknown island where whale herders live.
Through their friendship, this musical comedy mixes folklore, ecological drama and a quest for identity, with unique music combining folk, a cappella singing and live sound loops.
The effect is so great that if you close your eyes, you could swear you smell sea salt in the air.
