Le Puy Cathedral is one of the oldest Marian shrines in France, where the famous Black Virgin is honored.

It is therefore quite natural that the choir of the Centre de musique sacrée du Puy, with this program A hymn to the Virgin, pays homage to the Mother of God, to whom pilgrims have come to pray in this high place since the 5th century.
The program will feature the great composers of sacred music of the 20th and 21st centuries: Poulenc, Britten, Duruflé, Tavener, Pärt, Gorecki, as well as contemporary composers such as Trotta and Gjeilo. It will also be an opportunity to hear the premiere of Christopher Gibert's motet Assumpta est Maria, commissioned specially for Le Puy Cathedral.
