Since time immemorial, the young shepherds of Velay have fought each other in a Velay wrestling tournament to conquer the mythical flock of black sheep of Velay, during an obscure and somewhat wild ritual...
Accompanied by the shepherdess, the muse of his camp, each wrestler presents himself bare-chested and his loins girded with a sheepskin then, to the sound of graïles (Occitan oboes) and the drum, the fight begins... Be careful not to leave the circle drawn on the ground, symbol of the meadow! The best wins the title of Maistre de la Parjada (master of the herd of the Noires du Velay).
