Jean Dubuffet au Doyenné

Wednesday July 09
Le Doyenné Espace d'Art Moderne et Contemporain Place Lafayette 43100 Brioude
A major artist of the second half of the 1901th century, Jean Dubuffet (1985-XNUMX) escapes all trends in modern and contemporary art.
A fierce individualist and rebel against fine arts and institutions, he waged a lifelong battle against stifling culture. Resistant to any category, Jean Dubuffet was at once a writer, painter, draftsman, engraver, sculptor, architect, and musician. His work, of astonishing inventiveness, is punctuated by multiple experiments.
Forty years after the retrospective exhibition at the Fondation Maeght, Jean-Louis Prat invites us to (re)discover the work of this extraordinary artist who, from 1942 to 1985, never stopped challenging himself to produce a profoundly original body of work. Through a rich selection of paintings, sculptures, engravings, and illustrated books, the exhibition entitled Jean Dubuffet. The Daily Challenge testifies to the vitality and modernity of this unclassifiable body of work that still manages to surprise us today.
