The Choir of the Cathedral of Puy-en-Velay and the musicians of the Consort Musica Vera under the direction of Jean-Baptiste Nicolas, will unite their voices and instruments to perform polyphonic works from the end of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
Closely linked to the cathedral of Puy-En-Velay, the Maîtrise regularly performs there in concerts or during celebrations, but can also be heard outside the walls in a high-quality musical program. The human dimension is at the heart of its educational project which offers children and young people the chance to grow and flourish in a stimulating and enriching environment.
On this Pentecost Sunday, she will perform a polyphonic program with works from the Bayeux Manuscript, Claude Le Jeune and Loyset Compère.
The Maîtrise will be accompanied by the musicians of the Consort Musica Vera, This professional ensemble, founded within the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris in 2017, is dedicated to the interpretation of early music, on historical instruments and musical sources. Under the vaults of the Saint-Robert abbey, the spatial setting will give full dimension to the beautiful polyphonies of the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance on the program of this concert.
Singers and instrumentalists will be placed under the direction of Jean-Baptiste Nicolas. Director of the Maîtrise de la cathédrale du Puy, he studied orchestral conducting, musicology, and baroque trumpet at the CNSMD in Paris. He holds a master's degree in musicology and another in pedagogy.

The musicians will also provide entertainment at the 11 a.m. Sunday mass on the same day at the abbey church.
