Via Allier à vélo – Étape 15 – Prades > Saint-Privat-d'Allier
The Allier gorges narrow and the Via Allier cycle route climbs higher.
This aerial course with demanding terrain overlooks the gorges and offers magnificent views of the river, the Devès mountains and the Margeride peaks. Rock castles stand guard and guide your progress. A well-deserved stop in Saint-Privat-d'Allier which dominates the gorges sums up this cycling stage well. The village is also a meeting place, you will surely come across pilgrims on the way to Compostela. A course reserved for cyclists accustomed to or equipped with VAE.
The route:
A long climb on the D48 marks the start of this stage of the Via Allier. Once in Vergues we find the D301 which remains overlooking the river until Saint-Privat-d'Allier, alternating climbs and descents of varying lengths. A stage with a significant difference in altitude.
