Etape 16 Ouest – GR 765 – Saint-Paulien – Le Puy

Go around the church, cross the pedestrian crossing near the crossroads and continue along the small rue du Lac. Cut a road to take the climb to the Lake.
In the housing estate, at the fork, use the one-way lane on the left. At the Grand Lac, keep heading towards Rue des Sorbiers, then via a dirt road. Long a career.
At the road, at the entrance to the artisanal zone, go straight on until the D 906; cross it (> great caution) and head towards Nolhac. At the stadium, turn left then, at the hamlet, turn left. Arrive at the bowling green. Turn right, then immediately left to take the path which passes between the bowling alleys and the wash house. Continue opposite along a grassy path and end up on a wide path; follow it to the right. At the fork, leave the start on the left.
At the village of Marmilhac, cross a tarmac road to continue on a path that climbs into the woods.
At the fork, follow the path on the left and arrive shortly after at a crossroads. Come forward. The path runs along the plateau for around 600 m, before turning right and plunging into the valley of the Communac stream. At the bottom of the hamlet, go left along the stream and continue on the road.
About 70 m after the bridge, leave the road to go up to the right on a wide dirt road. At the high point, reach a crossroads. Turn left towards Bilhac.
About 500 m further, go down to the right. In Bilhac, first turn right then go down left towards the fountain.
Continue left to leave the village. In the left turn, take a wide path on the right. At the fork, go down to the right. At the low point, reach a junction. First turn right then follow the path on the left. Join the GR® 765E just before the Polignac cemetery.
Go up the street on the right and reach the church.
 In front of the church, go left along the main street (rue du Levant, then rue du Toria).
Just after La Gourmantine, don't miss a staircase on the left, then follow the path which leads to a road [O > troughs]; take it on the left for 50 m, then go down to the right along the grassy path. Cut the road and continue on the wide path.
At the intersection, turn right. Cross the D 136 (> be careful!) and go up opposite. Pass the agricultural buildings by approximately 100 m. Take the path on the right and come out on a road at the top of the hill. Reach the crossroads.
Go down to the left along Chemin de la Boriette lined with low walls. At the fork, enter the Boriette park opposite and go down the winding path under the trees. At the exit, go right for a few meters, then take the stairs. At the bottom, go down the main road for 30 m. Just after the first house on the left, follow the grassy passage, then turn left.
Go down left via rue Montade-de-la-Boriette, then straight ahead via chemin de Bouthezard [O > view of the chapel and the Saint-Michel rock]. At the hospital roundabout, head opposite to cross the bridge over the Borne. At the crossroads, go left for 20 m, cross Avenue de Bonneville at the protected passage and follow the path on the left at the foot of the Rocher Saint-Michel. Get to the end of the parking lot.
Take the Coustette climb on the right which rises in Aiguilhe. Turn left towards the war memorial then go up the pedestrian street on the right which ends with stairs. Come out in front of the Hôtel du Département buildings. Go right, continue rue Gouteyron then turn left. Walk past the buildings then turn left and immediately turn right onto rue Becdelièvre which leads to Notre-Dame Cathedral, start of the GR® 65.
