For several months, “La Mobylette du Mézenc” has taken over the old barracks in the village of Fay-sur-Lignon with its fleet of 18 vintage mobs. This is the opportunity to explore the Monts d'Ardèche and Haute-Loire through the small roads that crisscross the two departments. Pierre Mantelin offers unusual outings to enjoy as a couple, with friends or even with family. Several rental options are available.

What made you want to offer this activity?

Pierre Mantelin: It is my passion for mopeds that I wanted to share through this activity. I've been riding mopeds since I was 15. I was doing buying and selling, maintenance and repair, and I wanted to change by offering this tourist activity, in order to discover the beautiful territory in which we are.

What types of walks do you offer?

You should know that Fay-sur-Lignon is a very good starting point for moped rides. You can go to the L'Eyrieux valley in Ardèche, towards Lake Issarlès, or on the other side in the Yssingeaux sector, towards the Himalayan gateway. Here where we are, I suggest a route which passes through Chaudeyrolles, the cross of Peccata, before going back down towards Les Estables, and going back up towards the cross of Boutières to observe the panorama. In fact, we define the circuit as soon as people come to see me, based on the maps displayed in my office. I offer them walks inspired by those that I have been able to do personally.

Is Mézenc an asset in your activity?

Yes ! From here we can serve everything. This is a very good starting point. When we arrive at Chaudeyrolles, and head towards Les Estables, we immediately change the landscape. The fleet of mopeds is diversified as much as possible, so that people can fall back on that of their 14 years old. There is the famous blue Motobécane 88, the Mobyx, the MBK 51, or the orange 50V. The mopeds that I make available to customers are all emblematic!

Do you offer several rental options?

Yes, half-day, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., or from 14 p.m. to 18 p.m. There is the mid-day formula from 10 a.m. to 16 p.m., and the full day, from 9 a.m. to 18 p.m. And then I offer a unique formula in France which allows you to observe the sunsets on a moped, from 19 p.m. to 22 p.m.
